Zapt Laser Tag opening in Milton Country Park in May
New leisure attraction, Zapt Laser Tag, is due to open in May in a designated area of Milton Country Park.
Zapt Laser Tag is the latest attraction to be opened by Beth and Chris Walthew and Walthew Leisure, the award-winning family business behind the successful Clip ‘n Climb Cambridge.
Aimed at children aged seven and above, Zapt Laser Tag is a strategy team activity with games guided by the Zapt marshals.
Beth says: “We started Clip ‘n Climb eight years ago and then opened a climbing centre called Climb Quest in Milton Keynes in 2020.
“We approached Milton Country Park about doing an outdoor venture and decided on Laser Tag at the back end of last year.”
Beth notes that Milton Country Park have set aside “just under an acre of land” for the new venture - an area known as the ‘Zapt Zone’.
“There will be up to 30 players at one time,” she explains, “so 15 against 15, and there will be two dens at either end.
“The games will be kind of tactic, strategy games - blue team against red team, and it will be contained within that area.”
Beth adds: “We’ve been working really closely with the Cambridge Sport Lakes Trust, just to make sure that Zapt is in a part of the park that is in harmony with the rest of the park.
“So we’ve been working a lot with their activities coordinators and their rangers as well.”
Sophy Jobai, operations manager at The Cambridge Sport Lakes Trust, added: “We have worked hard during the last nine months to bring Zapt Laser Tag at Milton Country Park as an all-year-round unique outdoor activity, with the expectation to widen our activity scale.
“We are also very proud to have the possibility to work with Beth and Chris who are not only successful entrepreneurs, but also extraordinary people. We can’t wait to step on this journey together.”
Zapt Laser Tag opens on Saturday, 11 May (there will be an official ribbon-cutting ceremony at 1pm on the day), and is open every weekend and during the school holidays thereafter. Groups can also hire Zapt privately.
