Ben Cutmore secures gold among his three medals at the European Aquatics Championships 2024
Ben Cutmore claimed three podiums to help Great Britain finish top of the diving medal table at the European Aquatics Championships in Serbia.
The 21-year-old ex-Cambridge Dive Team member won GB’s first of seven diving medals in Belgrade with gold alongside Desharne Bent-Ashmeil in the Mixed 3m Synchro last Thursday.
The former Bassingbourn Village College student, who was born in Cambridge, followed it up the next day with bronze in the Men’s 10m Synchro with Euan McCabe.
And he completed a hectic but rewarding schedule on Sunday with a further third place in the individual Men’s 10m Platform on Sunday that showed plenty of character.
Lying second after three rounds, a drop in round four put him in sixth.
But he bounced back with a composed back 3 1/2 somersaults tuck getting him up to third, and secured that with a clutch closer for an overall score of 429.90.
"I didn't drop my head after that fourth dive and I made sure I stayed determined, as I wanted to fight back for a medal," he said.
"It's taken a lot of hard work to get here, and a lot of dedication, especially after my injury at the start of the year, so I refused to go home without a medal in this event."
